June 15:

Lynyrd Skynrd

It’s a bit odd to see Lynyrd Skynyrd and Blue Oyester cult open an event such as Hellfest, but sure why not I guess. Some other headlining bands performing on various stages include:*

June 16: Machine Head, Entombed, Behemoth, Saint Vitus

Review: Lamb Of God – “Resolution”.

Review: Lamb Of God – “Resolution”

After three years since their album, “Wrath”, one would expect another mind blowing display of technicality and fist-fight inducing rhythms from this Virginia five piece, and rightly so they would not be disappointed.

Providing another decent thrashing, “Resolution” opens with a scream as harsh as their themed message , the downfall of humanity through over industrialization (a theme present in previous albums as well) followed by a slow but brutal ballad. The album throughout offers a standard reminiscent of “Wrath”, but with a crux of it’s own that makes your ears plead for more. I tried to find a negative in this but was hard pressed; in fact I found the more I wrote the more only a grotesque display of ass kissing would come out into words. Oh well, Lamb of God has certainly earned it.

With a release on Jan. 24 and a third place on the official ARIA chart, there’s no doubt these Virginian sons of metal are back in full force, glory and all. Recorded in their home state with producer John Wilbur for a second time since “Wrath” and released around the world through Roadrunner Records, “Resolution” has pleased (or, at least, is projected to please) over fifty thousand U.S citizens within its first seven days, which is not too far from the mark of their previous sixty eight thousand back in 2009 (“Wrath”). A definite worthy investment for any fan of metal and sure as shit to give you a chub.

Severed Savior

Posted in Band Showcase/ Commentary on February 2, 2012 by A.R. Gervais

This group comes with a side effect of hemorrhaging and sever whiplash, with the impulse for murder.  Technically brutal and brutally technical, Severed Savior offers a flavor that will crush your genitals.

Vomit The Soul

These Italians must use the meat of sliced up children for their pizza, because this shit slays all things innocent. Vomit The Soul, which may or may not be a take after that Cannibal Corpse song, lends a favorable earful to any fan of brutal death metal. Reminiscent of Dying Fetus and early Decrepit Birth (And Time Begins era) this is an act sure to throttle your brains out in an uncontrollable fit of headbanging.

Song: Decay of an Inviolable Dogma

Album: Apostles of Inexpression

Trigger The Bloodshed

What’s it like to feel a man’s face shatter beneath your fist? For those unfamiliar, these guys will make you feel like you did. Straight from the town of Bath, England, Trigger The Bloodshed brutalizes the scene with well a well crafted destructive force.

We The Martyr Requests Sing-a-long From Fans

Posted in Uncategorized on February 2, 2012 by A.R. Gervais

When I first heard We The Martyr was hosting a competition amongst fans “to put you in it!” my first impulse was to spew hot coffee all over the computer screen. Ok, maybe not, in fact I don’t even like coffee. It’s the most overrated drink ever, undrinkable without a half liter of condiments, makes you piss like it’s liquor (although if it does have some in it, this makes it far for awesome), is addictive, and doesn’t even get you high.

But, as we soon find out, this contest isn’t as great as it sounds:

Hey everyone , Cale’s making a Guitar Play through video for militia and wants to put you in it !!!! all you have to do is record yourself singing along to the gang vocals parts at the start and at 2:01.

Really? That’s it? Couldn’t be anything more bad-ass like doing guttural voice splits with the main vocalist? I guess not, just some more out of style sounding metalcore shouts, sounding like a gang of highschoolers. Pass.
